Where to find a Nintendo Wii without robbing someone
Posted on November 11, 2007I can’t believe that about a year after launch, it’s still next to impossible to find a Nintendo Wii. Well after talking to a couple people, I have found out how to get a Wii. Just be prepared to sit in a line that was formed the night before.
UPDATE.. I am now the owner of two Wii’s, hrmm, what to do with the extra one. I’ll post back later when I get home, I’ll update this with some pics and whatnot.
There are two places that I know of currently that are getting a consistent supply of Wii’s, Bestbuy and Toys R Us. Bestbuy, from what I’ve been told is using a ticket system, and only get 10 Nintendo Wii’s in every Sunday. You just have to be one of the first ten in line to get the tickets. At that point you can go home or do whatever and come back later to claim your Wii. As for what time you need to get in line, I don’t know, this is information I got from a Hollywood Video employee, who had his mother get him his Wii. Guess I can’t blame him, I would try and get my mother to do the same, then again, maybe not.
Toys R Us on the other hand, they get 200 Wii’s every OTHER Sunday, this Sunday, November 18th is one of those days. With Toys R Us though, you will need to be in line sometime in the evening Saturday. My brother and friend are in the line right now, but they showed up at 8am today. The information given to me suggested being in line an hour before they open, hopefully this is true. Anyway, by the time my friend got there this morning, there were at least 150 people in line already, easy. They were told people started to get in line at 9pm Saturday night.
I guess with the holiday season coming around, you’ll need to get in line much earlier as it gets closer to Christmas. We’ll see, hopefully one gets picked up today, It will be interesting to see if my wife really does play Cooking Mamma, or if she was full of hot air.
